10-piece gig at Millfield School

gig at Millfield School sixth form Leavers' Ball by Firefly band

We were thrilled to be invited back to gig at Millfield School on 25 May 2019. We performed as a 10-piece band including a brilliant horn section.

1000 18 year olds, staff and parents flooded onto the dance floor and danced wildly all night. It was honestly one of our favourite ever gigs. We love playing at School Balls and this South West School Ball is one of our favourite ever school balls to play at! The venue was decorated beautifully and was fit for the Queen! With 1,000 guests, it was an opulent affair. The sun was shinning and the guests all arrived, looking gorgeous in their Summer Ball outfits. The dancefloor was flooded immediately and guests danced all night and wouldn’t let us go at the end! So we stayed for encores and to chat to guests afterwards.

We loved playing as a 10-piece band and we were joined by Graeme Budd on saxophone, Sam Reed on trumpet and Elly Oliver on trombone as well as Charlie Limm on backing vocals. Suzy was on lead vocals and on keyboards, we had Paul Hardy, Martyn Alsop on drums, Dave Miles on guitar and Mark Butler on bass guitar and Kevin Howlett on sound. What a fabulous line-up! A show band made up of very talented musicians and singers. Firefly at its best!

What a wonderful thing to do for the 18 year olds at this school and parents and teachers were also invited, meaning all got to party and create memories together! The teachers work so hard all year and really deserved a night off to let their hair down. The Assistant Head Teacher who booked us told us how hard the children have worked all year and really deserved some fun and a chance to say goodbye to all their friends and teachers as they leave the school and set off for their exciting futures. I’m sure they’ll be our future Prime Ministers and all sorts of impressive professionals!
