Our first New Year’s Eve gig at Cottage in the Wood, Malvern on 31st December 2019.

We were very excited about our debut New Year’s Eve gig at this exclusive, boutique hotel in a stunning setting, otherwise called the Malvern Hills! Suzy J regularly sings jazz there with her jazz duo with Peter Gill, called The Lady Sings Jazz, so she already knew some of the lovely guests! We were promptly booked afterwards to play at the next New Year’s Eve Ball at Cottage in the Wood in 2020! We also received a lovely, highly complimentary thank you email from the owner, Julia!

The hotel was beautifully decorated for this grand occasion. Michelin star chefs treated guests to an exquisite and delicious 7 course meal. We didn’t think guests would be able to dance after that but they leapt up after eating to dance the night away! We eased them in gently with a jazz and swing set, followed by hours of live pop, rock, rock n roll, soul and Motown and a disco between live sets. We took several requests and nobody wanted the night to end! Midnight was celebrated with a live band version of Auld Lang Syne, and everyone sang, drank champagne and was merry! We love playing at New Year’s Eve Gala Balls and we can now add Cottage in the Wood’s New Year’s Eve Gala Ball to our very long list of New Year’s Eve gigs in South West England, the Midlands, Somerset and Gloucestershire.

In the band for this amazing New Year’s Eve function were Suzy J on lead vocals, Paul Hardy on keyboards, Martyn Alsop on drums and vocals, Mark Butler on bass guitar and Dave Miles on guitar and vocals. We played a ton of songs and the dance floor was packed.
