We enjoyed a full month of gigs this September, including 3 weddings, and 2 corporate functions.
Our first wedding gig of the month was on 7th September, where we entertained lovely couple, Helene and Tim and their guests at their wedding in Cheltenham. It was a magical setting and wedding and we loved it as much as the guests did, I believe! We played as a 7-piece band, including saxophone.
Our second wedding, on 14th September 2024, took us back to Chesford Grange in Warwickshire, where we play at many events every year, including on NYE. We performed Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing as the first dance, followed by a father and daughter dance, I Loved Her First by Heartland. The bride and her father were very emotional dancing to that song and the band had to try not to cry, performing the song!
Then on Sunday 22nd September, we played for the second year running for the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) Awards Gala at Coombe Abbey in Coventry. The incredible venue is a 12th century monastery, along with an ancient tomb and other incredible artefacts! BETA would like to book us for 2025 as well, which we’re delighted about!
The last weekend in September was a double-gig weekend for us. Friday 27th September, we travelled to Exeter to the Mercure Southgate Exeter Hotel to play for CPT, funded by Stagecoach. We were booked by the lovely Derek White, who booked Firefly to play at two Gloucester Chamber of Commerce Balls a few years ago! The group were small but it was quality over quantity! The group danced all night and even joined the band on stage! Derek was the first to join the band and impressed all of his staff with his tambourine playing!
On Saturday 28th September, we played at our 3rd wedding of the month. We played at Sarah and Christopher’s wedding at the Barn at Berkeley, along with our saxophonist, Dom Franks. The bride wanted us to do a walk around in the audience so Dom and the singers joined the crowd and partied with them on the dancefloor! EV3 provided the disco and earlier on, harpist Angharad serenaded guests with her stunning harp playing. We performed Stargazing as the first dance and again performed I Loved Her First for the bride and her father. Not a dry eye in the house!
Weddings and corporate functions are such fabulous events to play. Contact us to find out more about booking Firefly band to perform at your wedding or corporate function.
